Hace unas semanas Rusia empezó la invasión a Ucrania, lo que originó que millones de ucranianos huyeran para salvar sus vidas, entre ellos miles de niños.
Según Save The Children, se calcula que un millón de menores ha escapado de Ucrania y miles de ellos sin sus familias.
“Se estima que un millón de niños han huido de Ucrania en las últimas semanas, ya que el número total de refugiados que huyen de Ucrania alcanzó los 2 millones de personas en la actualidad. Un número creciente de estos niños llegan solos, sin apoyo familiar, en una crisis de protección infantil cada vez mayor”, afirma la entidad europea en un comunicado.
Según el informe, los niños son enviados por familiares que no lograron salir de sus ciudades de origen. Tienen menos de 14 años y presentan signos de angustia psicológica.
“Los padres están recurriendo a las medidas más desesperadas para proteger a sus hijos. Esto incluye enviar a sus hijos con vecinos y amigos para buscar seguridad fuera de Ucrania, mientras se quedan en casa para proteger sus hogares. La separación puede significar un profundo estrés psicológico por la incertidumbre y la ansiedad por la separación. También aumenta los riesgos de violencia, explotación, trata y abuso”, dijo Irina Saghoyan, directora de Europa del Este de Save the Children.
Por ello, la entidad hizo un llamado a las autoridades fronterizas y organizaciones humanitarias para que puedan crean programas para prevenir la separación familiar, así como brindar apoyo al recibirlos en las fronteras.
Cabe señalar que hace dos días se conoció la historia de un niño que llegó a la frontera con Polonia llorando y con un número de teléfono en la mano.
